Matt is a residential and commercial architect based in California and Montana. His work reflects a modern approach grounded in the contextual fabric of place.

It’s all about design.

The challenge of finding a solution and making that solution as elegant, as beautiful as it possibly can be—that to me is the most compelling thing about architecture.

Matt is a rare combination of practical thinker and adventure-seeker. His path to architecture began with a documentary that inspired him to spend three years working on commercial fishing boats in Alaska, where he took up construction jobs on the side. Impressed by Alaskans’ do-it-yourself approach to everything from milling their own logs to making their own siding, Matt began to think about ways to better focus that drive within both the design and construction process—coincidentally, his first project after graduating from architecture school was a private fishing cabin in Alaska.
